[00:00:33] Speaker B: It's your girl Bracey, and it's your
[00:00:35] Speaker A: girl kb and today we'll be talking about how deep are we in the trenches?
[00:00:39] Speaker B: Cuz, are you really in the trenches?
[00:00:41] Speaker A: All right.
[00:00:42] Speaker B: Is you just calling yourself in the trenches?
[00:00:45] Speaker A: Yeah, it's full.
[00:00:46] Speaker B: You want.
[00:00:46] Speaker A: Not used to have to fear for yourself.
[00:00:48] Speaker B: Okay, that's it.
[00:00:51] Speaker A: How was your week?
[00:00:52] Speaker B: It was pretty good.
I made a big decision this week.
My new hobby that I was telling y' all about.
I'm getting somewhere. I love the nails. Yeah.
[00:01:02] Speaker A: Beginning work. Don't even look like beginner work.
[00:01:04] Speaker B: Thank you. Period. Don't with me.
How about you?
[00:01:08] Speaker A: My week was good. I did something that I was battling back and forth about, but I took my chance. I'm going back to school.
[00:01:15] Speaker B: I know that's right.
[00:01:17] Speaker A: Degree.
[00:01:18] Speaker B: Applause.
[00:01:18] Speaker A: I don't care how much people downplay it. You need a degree.
I don't care if you want the life in life.
[00:01:25] Speaker B: I don't need that degree.
[00:01:27] Speaker A: Unless you just hit a leak where you just find something you good at and you make money off of it.
Enough money.
[00:01:34] Speaker B: Maybe that'll be another topic for another day because I have to agree to disagree.
Well, actually, I'm not gonna say that because I do got to get something for cosmetology, so.
[00:01:45] Speaker A: Okay, yeah, I don't know, but I'm saying, yeah, people go and get their college. Yeah, you gotta get skyrocket.
[00:01:51] Speaker B: Yeah, you gotta get.
[00:01:52] Speaker A: But you need some type of degree. Certification.
[00:01:54] Speaker B: I don't care how much. People definitely agree with you on that.
[00:01:57] Speaker A: It's mandatory, and that can prevent conversations like this. You won't be in the trenches. Get that degree. You might be in the trenches while you're getting that degree, but, hey.
[00:02:08] Speaker B: So for our first segment, we're gonna do whisper it or say it.
I'm gonna go first and then after me, Brago, of course.
So for my first one, I'm going to say, I don't eat potato salad at the cookouts.
[00:02:23] Speaker A: Not at the cookout. I only eat it if my mama or somebody make it.
[00:02:26] Speaker B: So we gonna whisper it or we gonna whisk it?
[00:02:28] Speaker A: It gotta be hot.
[00:02:30] Speaker B: Hot.
[00:02:30] Speaker A: I don't like no cold pasta salad. No cold potato salad.
[00:02:34] Speaker B: Yeah, I always thought your pasta salad thing was a little weird, but, I mean, hey. But potato salad, though, you want it to be hot.
[00:02:40] Speaker A: I need it a little warm. Like I need it when it's after it been made. I can't. Because when you get cold, the potatoes Be kind of hard.
[00:02:47] Speaker B: I'm gonna say that. Because ain't nobody. We need to put that potato salad down. Like, ew. There ain't nothing.
[00:02:53] Speaker A: Yes, I need potato salad. No, I just eat it.
[00:02:59] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:03:00] Speaker A: But anywho.
I guess you could say that. Yeah.
My thing is, I do not like okra.
I hate it.
[00:03:13] Speaker B: Say that. Ew.
[00:03:15] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:03:15] Speaker B: I'm not a greens person, period.
[00:03:17] Speaker A: Like, I like collards and cabbage. I don't care for no turnips, no mustard.
[00:03:23] Speaker B: Right.
[00:03:23] Speaker A: Just collards and cabbage.
[00:03:24] Speaker B: Facts. Yeah. We gonna say that shit for sure.
For me, I'm going to say that.
I think.
I think when black parents be like, I brought you in this world, I could take you out. I think that's overrated.
[00:03:44] Speaker A: That is overrated. Cause you gonna take me out now you gonna be in jail.
[00:03:47] Speaker B: Exactly. And sad, crying.
[00:03:49] Speaker A: Cause you gonna get caught.
[00:03:50] Speaker B: That's a two for one. Now you gonna be really, really hu.
Okay, I'm gonna go. Cause Bray is stunned.
[00:04:05] Speaker A: I am. Cause my mom used to kill me with it.
[00:04:08] Speaker B: I'm just thinking about it. Okay. So I never watched a movie. People quote constantly.
[00:04:14] Speaker A: Which one?
[00:04:15] Speaker B: I'mma say that shit.
Because I ain't never really. I don't know nothing about no Paid in Full, no shotas, no Jews, no Poetic Justice.
[00:04:25] Speaker A: A Poetic justice, yes.
[00:04:27] Speaker B: Like, I don't know about that.
[00:04:28] Speaker A: That's a must. Watch.
[00:04:29] Speaker B: The only ones that I have ever seen. Well, first of all, I can't quote none of them word for word, but the only ones that I have ever seen for real. Like, black. What they call them? Like, black. What they call them black movies. Like, I guess black movies or whatever they call culture. I only saw Brotherly Love, Basketball, Basketball Love and Basketball and the Color Purple.
[00:04:53] Speaker A: I know you done seen Fridays.
[00:04:54] Speaker B: Of course. Yeah, I done saw Baby Boy.
That's about it.
[00:04:59] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:04:59] Speaker B: What a dead line between love and hate.
[00:05:01] Speaker A: What about Babs?
[00:05:03] Speaker B: Never saw baps.
[00:05:04] Speaker A: Oh, my God.
[00:05:05] Speaker B: Never saw bs. Those are two. You need Poetic Justice.
[00:05:09] Speaker A: Justice Friday. Well, three. Poetic Justice Friday. And L. Basketball.
[00:05:15] Speaker B: Yeah. I got to get on. I got to get on it.
I'm going to do one more. You want to say it or you want me to say it?
[00:05:21] Speaker A: Go ahead.
[00:05:23] Speaker B: I don't know one song by Lauryn Hill.
[00:05:29] Speaker A: You lying.
[00:05:30] Speaker B: I don't.
[00:05:32] Speaker A: You saying you don't know it or you never heard it?
[00:05:34] Speaker B: I don't. I don't know it.
What song? What song she got that I heard?
[00:05:38] Speaker A: Lauryn Hill.
[00:05:40] Speaker B: I don't even think I heard him.
[00:05:43] Speaker A: Oh, what is it?
I know the song. I just can't think of the name of it right now.
No, I listen to Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu.
[00:05:53] Speaker B: Yeah, I don't know either.
[00:05:57] Speaker A: Oh, my God.
[00:05:58] Speaker B: Yeah. So, okay, I guess I should whisper, but I'm gonna say it.
[00:06:03] Speaker A: I never learned how to play spades.
[00:06:06] Speaker B: Whisper that for sure.
[00:06:07] Speaker A: I'm definitely gonna whisper that because they gonna judge me down. Yes.
[00:06:10] Speaker B: What I'm definitely. That would have pulled. I would have pulled your black card right there.
But I'm not gonna lie. I did just learn how to play spades, though. Okay. Like last year, probably.
No, I think it was the year before that.
[00:06:22] Speaker A: I had learned.
[00:06:23] Speaker B: The end of the year before that, I had learned how to play spades.
[00:06:25] Speaker A: I did know how to play pitty pat, but I forgot about that. And I think that the easiest thing
[00:06:29] Speaker B: to play pitty pat, definitely the easiest thing to play pitty pat, is so easy that it's boring. But I would rather play pitty pat over Uno because I feel like uno is just overrated. That's what's overrated for sure. Uno. That junk is boring. Now uno is born.
Okay, so for our topic, we're gonna do black card check. And how far are you into the trenches?
[00:06:49] Speaker A: So you want to start it off black car check.
[00:06:54] Speaker B: All right, let's see what you got.
[00:06:58] Speaker A: Round one, your black car meet may be in danger. If you like sugar in your grits or cheese.
[00:07:11] Speaker B: I don't like sugar in my grits, so I'm gonna have to go. I would rather have cheese in my grits, for sure.
[00:07:17] Speaker A: I would rather cheese, salt, butter, pepper. Yeah, I'm gonna get my grits. Another one. This right back. But I'm not putting no sugar in no spaghetti either. I mean, not on top of it once it's already fixed, but as an ingredient. Yeah. When you're making it to take some of the bitterness out. But I'm not eating no sugar in my spaghetti.
[00:07:37] Speaker B: I don't know. I like a little sugar. Like, if it ain't. If it ain't, like, sweet enough, I will put something on top of it.
[00:07:44] Speaker A: Okay, so that bring me to my next question.
Do you put.
Do you mix your spaghetti or you like it separate?
[00:07:54] Speaker B: I cook my spaghetti separately.
[00:07:56] Speaker A: I cook it separately, but I will
[00:07:57] Speaker B: mix it together on the plate.
[00:07:59] Speaker A: No, cook the meat, add the sauce, boil the noodles, then add the sauce with the noodles.
That is so weird.
[00:08:08] Speaker B: I gotta have a pot for the meat in the sauce and a pot for the noodles. Like, when it's all cooked together, it Just. No, that would make it better.
[00:08:17] Speaker A: So how your spaghetti? Okay. In the black household, you. If your mama cooks spaghetti on Monday, you gonna eat that spaghetti Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. She might cook again on Thursday. So how your.
How it gonna come together? All the flavors gonna marinate if you got it separate?
[00:08:32] Speaker B: Well, I ain't gonna lie.
I ain't eating that. No Tuesday, Wednesday, no. Thursday. So no. But I might eat it on Tuesday and it gonna have to be Tuesday morning, but I'm not eating it after that.
Yeah.
[00:08:45] Speaker A: So you don't even like baked spaghetti? No.
[00:08:47] Speaker B: Oh, like spaghetti in the oven?
[00:08:49] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:08:50] Speaker B: No, no, no, no.
So I'm gonna. I'm going to give you some foods and you're going to tell me if you. Well, we're going to tell each other if we like it, love it or hate it.
[00:09:03] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:09:04] Speaker B: Macaroni and cheese.
[00:09:06] Speaker A: Love it. How about you?
[00:09:08] Speaker B: I got to be in the mood. So I'm going to say like it.
Fried chicken.
[00:09:13] Speaker A: You love it, you know you love it.
[00:09:15] Speaker B: Got to be in the mood. I'm going say like it.
[00:09:17] Speaker A: So you like baked?
[00:09:19] Speaker B: I'm not a big chicken fan.
[00:09:21] Speaker A: You like fried chicken wings?
[00:09:22] Speaker B: For sure. You love wings? Yeah, I like wings.
[00:09:25] Speaker A: It's a difference between fried chicken and chicken wings.
[00:09:27] Speaker B: Yeah, because I love me some good wings. For sure. What about watermelon?
[00:09:31] Speaker A: I used to love it, but it's not the same. So I'll go with like I love it. It's not the same. You gotta get us, but it's not the same from when we was kids, bro. Black seeds.
Too many with black seeds. Yeah, and that one was the best.
[00:09:46] Speaker B: Right. What about car flip side of the road Fast. Now, have you ever been to oh, what the people call elder beast?
They right. They like offer. No, I ain't telling y'. All. Y' all know where I stay at, but you know I talk about. About the flower shop, Dollar General.
[00:10:04] Speaker A: Yeah, I do. But you know another thing that good out the side of the road too, boy? Peanuts, boiled peanuts, peaches and those things they muscadines, but a lot of people call them bullet grape.
[00:10:14] Speaker B: Yeah, them. The itchy mouth. Gr.
[00:10:15] Speaker A: Itchy mouth.
[00:10:16] Speaker B: You definitely got to get them side. I love me a. A good cucumber for side of roll too.
[00:10:20] Speaker A: Yeah, anything from side to road is good cuz it's fresh from the garden.
[00:10:25] Speaker B: Right. So what about shitless?
[00:10:29] Speaker A: Hell no.
[00:10:29] Speaker B: I do not like to hate it.
That's what they is.
[00:10:33] Speaker A: That's.
[00:10:33] Speaker B: That's literally the pig intestine.
[00:10:35] Speaker A: Literally.
[00:10:35] Speaker B: Like is it the Pig.
[00:10:37] Speaker A: Or is it the chicken?
[00:10:38] Speaker B: I don't know, but whatever it is,
[00:10:39] Speaker A: I know one animal intestines and I hate it. I'm not eating that shit. Go through.
[00:10:43] Speaker B: Right? Yeah. No neck bones. Love it. I love them. What about pig.
Well, wait, wait, wait, wait. What about cooked pig feet and pig feet that like pickle pig feet?
[00:10:55] Speaker A: I would eat pickle pig feet, but I don't like pickle feet. Like, with gravy, like.
[00:10:59] Speaker B: Oh, you don't like the regular ones?
[00:11:01] Speaker A: Soul food.
[00:11:02] Speaker B: No. Yeah.
[00:11:02] Speaker A: I prefer pigtails. Those are good.
[00:11:05] Speaker B: I'm not eating no pigtails, for sure.
[00:11:07] Speaker A: But you eat pig feet.
[00:11:09] Speaker B: I do eat pig feet. If, like, my grandma was a cookie. Yeah, I like pickle pig feet, too. I like all the pickle stuff. I like pickle eggs.
[00:11:16] Speaker A: You won't eat the pigtail, but you gonna eat the pig feet. Something that they walk around.
Shut up. Oh, you nasty.
[00:11:22] Speaker B: Do you put hot sauce on everything?
[00:11:24] Speaker A: It depends. I love hot sauce on my salmon and rice.
[00:11:27] Speaker B: I like hot sauce on my salmon and rice, too.
[00:11:29] Speaker A: Or chicken, Bob.
[00:11:30] Speaker B: I'm gonna say a little bit, though, because I put hot sauce on a lot of stuff.
[00:11:33] Speaker A: Anything with rice. Yeah, true.
[00:11:35] Speaker B: It don't even gotta be rice.
[00:11:37] Speaker A: Rice and fried chicken.
Yeah.
[00:11:40] Speaker B: Yeah, for sure. Kool Aid, red drinks. Kool Aid drink.
[00:11:45] Speaker A: I don't too much care for red drinks because red dye not good for you. But Kool Aid. Yes, you can give me strawberry kiwi or what's the other one? I like that blueberry lemonade. That blue raspberry.
[00:11:56] Speaker B: Blueberry lemonade. One is. Yes, but I'm not gonna store. I don't. Yeah, I don't really do red drinks either, if I can avoid it. I'm not a big red drink fan, so I'm gonna keep.
[00:12:04] Speaker A: Cause I don't like nothing that change the color of my lips or my teeth. Yeah, yeah.
[00:12:07] Speaker B: And I get stained. My stuff stained real easy.
[00:12:09] Speaker A: The trick, the good Kool Aid, is adding pineapple juice. That junk.
[00:12:13] Speaker B: Well, we don't really make Kool Aid at my house either, so that's. We don't either, but I just ain't
[00:12:16] Speaker A: like that from growing up.
[00:12:17] Speaker B: Yeah. Cause I do like Kool Aid.
[00:12:19] Speaker A: Kool Aid is good, but Kool Aid actually make your mouth dry.
[00:12:23] Speaker B: Yo, I'm so glad you said that. That brings me to the Hawaiian punch.
[00:12:26] Speaker A: Oh, I hate that drink, bro. That joint, I told my mama that other day. I hate that drink.
[00:12:31] Speaker B: I be so thirsty.
[00:12:32] Speaker A: Still.
[00:12:32] Speaker B: Still drinking. Thirsty.
[00:12:33] Speaker A: You get thirsty, y' all. Going down your throat.
[00:12:35] Speaker B: Why is My mouth still dry, bro.
[00:12:38] Speaker A: Yeah, definitely hate it. You can kick that out the box.
[00:12:41] Speaker B: All right. Do you put ranch on everything?
Yeah, I'm not a big fan of ranch.
[00:12:48] Speaker A: I don't like ketchup, so I eat ranch on my fries. If I got chicken tenders, I want ranch and honey mustard.
If I'm just making regular fried chicken, I need rancher hot sauce.
I just love ranch. Yeah, I eat ranch on my Philly cheesesteak.
[00:13:02] Speaker B: No, I just put ranch on my wings. That's it.
[00:13:04] Speaker A: I love ranch.
[00:13:06] Speaker B: No. Yeah, I'm not. I'm not too big.
[00:13:09] Speaker A: Stop ranches.
[00:13:11] Speaker B: Okay, so we're gonna do. For round two, we're gonna do music.
[00:13:15] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:13:16] Speaker B: All right. So we gonna go back and forth asking each other questions, and we gonna see what you know, how much we know, you know, in our black community, I guess.
[00:13:24] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:13:25] Speaker B: Okay. My first one is what artists would get your black required vote if you couldn't name one of their songs.
[00:13:40] Speaker A: If I can't name none of their
[00:13:41] Speaker B: songs, a black artist and you can't name none of their songs that you feel like everybody else should know that would get your black car vote.
Like, for me, I'm not gonna lie. I'm gonna have to say Erykah Badu because I feel like a lot of people know Erykah Badu.
[00:13:55] Speaker A: I don't know. I can't really say because my music is very diverse.
[00:13:58] Speaker B: Yeah, you do have diverse music. You really do.
[00:14:00] Speaker A: It depends on what mood I'm in.
I could probably say
[00:14:07] Speaker B: or name somebody that you don't know many of their songs.
[00:14:10] Speaker A: More than likely it would be what's her name?
Kelly Rowland.
[00:14:18] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. I don't know.
[00:14:20] Speaker A: Or with a girl. Other girl that was a part of this child.
Oh, definitely. Definitely miss the Elliot.
I take Kelly rolling back. Definitely Missy Elliot. A lot of people know her music,
[00:14:33] Speaker B: but I don't know a lot of her song, and I can't even tell you what it's called.
[00:14:36] Speaker A: And the only one I really do know is to flip it in reverse. It.
[00:14:39] Speaker B: Yeah, I don't even know that one.
[00:14:41] Speaker A: So, yeah, if she featured on the song, then yeah. But just one of her music.
[00:14:45] Speaker B: No.
[00:14:48] Speaker A: Name three songs by Beyonce, Cuff it
[00:14:53] Speaker B: dangerously in love and dance for you.
[00:14:57] Speaker A: Okay. Right.
[00:14:58] Speaker B: Yeah. Okay.
Name three Usher songs.
[00:15:06] Speaker A: I would say climax, Bad girl, and.
What else else you got?
[00:15:24] Speaker B: Oh, good.
[00:15:25] Speaker A: Love the song with jt.
[00:15:28] Speaker B: You know, a song I was thinking about in my head.
[00:15:30] Speaker A: What?
[00:15:30] Speaker B: Oh, let it burn. Is that even his song? That his song?
[00:15:34] Speaker A: Yeah.
Okay. Finish a Mary J Blige lyric.
[00:15:41] Speaker B: I can't.
[00:15:43] Speaker A: It's easy.
[00:15:44] Speaker B: Really. All right, start it off on me.
[00:15:46] Speaker A: Then I'm saying what you said my everything.
[00:15:52] Speaker B: Oh, and I put that song on everything.
It's all because of. Okay, yeah, you got a point.
I'm going to take my scratch my point off of that.
[00:16:05] Speaker A: This about to be a good one.
[00:16:06] Speaker B: What old school artist. Did you. Did your mom or grandma force you to know somebody? They always play in
[00:16:17] Speaker A: it. Have to be a female or male.
[00:16:18] Speaker B: It don't matter.
[00:16:19] Speaker A: Oh, Kim.
[00:16:22] Speaker B: Kim.
[00:16:22] Speaker A: You know little Kim. Hey, girl.
[00:16:26] Speaker B: No, no, no. Kim.
[00:16:27] Speaker A: No, you ain't.
[00:16:29] Speaker B: No, I feel like I ain't. Good story. I feel like in the black community my black car to get revolt.
[00:16:34] Speaker A: So you don't remember nothing to share my life. You done heard?
[00:16:38] Speaker B: No, I don't know no Kill br.
[00:16:41] Speaker A: Oh, my God.
[00:16:42] Speaker B: No, I.
[00:16:43] Speaker A: Your mama must just play Fantasia, right?
[00:16:45] Speaker B: I'm have to look Kim up when I get home.
[00:16:47] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:16:48] Speaker B: Cuz I don't know.
[00:16:49] Speaker A: Anthony Hamilton, definitely Anthony Hamilton.
[00:16:52] Speaker B: Yeah, I know a few. Anthony Hamilton for sure.
[00:16:55] Speaker A: What song immediately turns up a function?
You already know. What my mind on
[00:17:02] Speaker B: nothing's Free.
What?
[00:17:05] Speaker A: I'm a gorilla in a. Oh, yeah. Yes.
[00:17:08] Speaker B: But see, we can't. That can't be. For the cookout, though. For the cookout, I'll say like terms of a function.
[00:17:15] Speaker A: I would definitely say like for a
[00:17:17] Speaker B: family cookout or something.
[00:17:18] Speaker A: The song that Beyonce remixed, I'm gonna
[00:17:22] Speaker B: say
[00:17:25] Speaker A: what a song called.
[00:17:26] Speaker B: I don't know. But I got a good one on the tip of my tongue.
I think it's called Friday by Sir Charles.
[00:17:33] Speaker A: It's Friday.
Yeah.
[00:17:35] Speaker B: That good old timey cookout.
Yeah, that's a good one. That's a good one right there. For sure.
[00:17:44] Speaker A: Let me see.
[00:17:48] Speaker B: All right. What?
[00:17:49] Speaker A: Black classic. Everybody loves that. You secretly skilled, like song wise. Yeah,
[00:18:01] Speaker B: I don't know. Because I don't know a lot of. That's what I'm saying.
[00:18:03] Speaker A: I would definitely say what they think.
Betty Wright.
[00:18:10] Speaker B: Yeah. I don't blame Ms. Charlie.
[00:18:12] Speaker A: Yeah. Cause I'm not coming second to no man. I don't care if he's just a man.
[00:18:16] Speaker B: Didn't she say it was something she said in that song? That was so dumb.
[00:18:21] Speaker A: He doing the best he can. Yeah, I don't care.
[00:18:23] Speaker B: That too.
[00:18:24] Speaker A: But if that's your best, I hate to see you at your worst. Okay.
[00:18:29] Speaker B: Cause dang.
Okay, this the last one we gonna do for the music. What's the cookout Line dance song. You better know.
[00:18:39] Speaker A: That's the One I was just talking about.
[00:18:42] Speaker B: No, like dance.
[00:18:44] Speaker A: Yeah, it's the song.
Better. No cha cha slide.
But uncle girl, I want to see it.
I would definitely say wobble or cha cha slide.
[00:19:00] Speaker B: Yeah, wobble for sure. And cha cha slide. But I feel like you got to know that whop too. The whop. The one that go turn it up. For real?
[00:19:06] Speaker A: Yeah, but I ain't gonna do no jiggle.
[00:19:09] Speaker B: I love lil jig now.
[00:19:12] Speaker A: I love me a good little G.
Okay, round three.
Movies and TV card on the table, please. Let me see if I can take your card.
[00:19:25] Speaker B: So what I'm gonna tell you, like,
[00:19:26] Speaker A: if you never seen it, that's automatically revoke.
[00:19:30] Speaker B: Yeah. Okay. But you gotta say, have you seen them too?
[00:19:33] Speaker A: Now I do. Okay, starting off strong.
Friday.
[00:19:37] Speaker B: I definitely done saw Friday before the Color Purple. I love the Color Purple.
[00:19:42] Speaker A: Okay.
Atl.
[00:19:46] Speaker B: I saw atl, but I can't tell you too much, Baby boy.
[00:19:50] Speaker A: I done saw Baby Boy Boys in the Hood.
[00:19:54] Speaker B: I definitely done saw Boys in the hood.
[00:19:56] Speaker A: Okay. You know, you take my car.
[00:19:58] Speaker B: You never saw Boys in the Hood?
[00:20:00] Speaker A: No.
All I know is the famous line. Ricky. Rick.
[00:20:04] Speaker B: Rick.
You know, a movie I just thought about though, that I forgot to say when we was talking about him at first.
[00:20:10] Speaker A: What?
[00:20:11] Speaker B: Daddy's little Girl.
[00:20:13] Speaker A: That's definitely the top five of black community. Yeah.
Okay. The Wood.
[00:20:20] Speaker B: I'm have to pass my card up.
[00:20:21] Speaker A: For real.
[00:20:22] Speaker B: I don't even know what that is.
[00:20:23] Speaker A: I seen it, but it looks like child I don't need to be watching. There's no child anyway.
Any badia movie.
[00:20:33] Speaker B: I probably don't saw them all the
[00:20:34] Speaker A: plays and the movies, I ain't gonna lie. Madea. When it couldn't Madea. I love the plays more than I love the movies.
My favorite Madea movie, though, would have to be not Madea Goes to Jail.
The other one when she healing.
Diary of a Mad Black Woman.
[00:20:53] Speaker B: That was a good one. But as from I'm gonna have to disagree because I rather prefer the movies because I feel like them plays got too much singing in them.
My favorite play is Made Go to Jail. For sure.
[00:21:07] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:21:08] Speaker B: That's a classic life.
Yes. I love Madea Go to Jail. Now that's a movie that I could probably recite from head to toe. Literally.
[00:21:15] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:21:15] Speaker B: Made Go to Jail.
[00:21:19] Speaker A: Players Club.
[00:21:21] Speaker B: I'm gonna have to pass my card up.
[00:21:23] Speaker A: You never watch it.
[00:21:24] Speaker B: Dollar bill.
[00:21:28] Speaker A: I love that movie.
Soul Food.
[00:21:32] Speaker B: I had to give it up.
[00:21:33] Speaker A: Crazy thing. I just watched Soul Food for the first time, like the beginning of the year.
[00:21:39] Speaker B: You like it?
[00:21:40] Speaker A: It's all right.
The family, my husband.
Okay, what about the Best man?
[00:21:49] Speaker B: I don't think I saw that either.
[00:21:53] Speaker A: Oh, my God. All right, so you didn't even watch the new one that came out a couple years ago? Best Man Holiday.
[00:22:00] Speaker B: Yes, I saw Bestman Holiday.
[00:22:02] Speaker A: Yeah. You need to go back and watch the original.
[00:22:04] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:22:05] Speaker A: Okay. What about Fresh Prince Vill?
[00:22:07] Speaker B: I. I don't watch a few episodes.
[00:22:09] Speaker A: Yeah, that's my favorite show.
[00:22:11] Speaker B: Really?
[00:22:11] Speaker A: Yes. Cuz of the music.
[00:22:13] Speaker B: I'm dead.
[00:22:14] Speaker A: The Parkers, if you. Oh, I was about to say, I
[00:22:17] Speaker B: mean, ain't got no choice you to put it on every night before you went to sleep.
[00:22:20] Speaker A: Yes. I love that show.
[00:22:22] Speaker B: Like, Kim.
[00:22:23] Speaker A: Kim's so damn dope.
[00:22:26] Speaker B: Okay,
[00:22:29] Speaker A: what is a black movie everybody call a classic, but you don't think it's that good?
[00:22:41] Speaker B: Barbershop.
[00:22:43] Speaker A: Yeah, I don't care.
[00:22:45] Speaker B: Like, I used to watch Barbershop a lot, and now that I sit back, like,
[00:22:50] Speaker A: whatever.
[00:22:51] Speaker B: Yeah, we can go without it.
[00:22:53] Speaker A: So this the last one we go wrap up.
What's one movie that your Household watched over 100 times?
[00:23:05] Speaker B: Medea's. All of them. Like, every Sunday. When we used to go to my grandma house, we used to always put on a Madea movie every Sunday. And I'm talking about dvd. Like plow the DVD player.
[00:23:15] Speaker A: DVD player.
[00:23:16] Speaker B: Put the CD in.
[00:23:16] Speaker A: Or when we had Dish Network. Yeah, definitely can watch it on BET for sure.
[00:23:21] Speaker B: So, honestly, I feel like Bray probably got her black car still. I'm probably the one with my black car voting around.
[00:23:28] Speaker A: Not really, though.
[00:23:29] Speaker B: Cause I don't know, it's a lot of movies and music and foods that I don't really play around with.
[00:23:37] Speaker A: Yeah, okay. I could. Before we wrap this topic up, though, I can tell you one movie I don't like, and it had me terrified as a child. And it's a black movie that the black community love set it off. I hate that movie. Don't ever play that around me.
[00:23:52] Speaker B: What's that movie called? Paid in Full.
[00:23:55] Speaker A: I never watched it.
[00:23:56] Speaker B: You never watched Paid in Full? You know what made me watch Paid in Full? What? You know, I love me some Luchi. I can't go without Lucci. So in one of his songs, he said something about it's fucked up how they did Mitch in the Hallway. Yeah.
[00:24:09] Speaker A: And that was from Paid in Poole.
[00:24:11] Speaker B: Yep.
[00:24:11] Speaker A: Yeah, but I never watched it.
[00:24:12] Speaker B: That's what made me go watch it.
[00:24:13] Speaker A: But these other two, I don't like movies that involve, like.
The whole thing is revolved around Jill Like, I didn't like state property. I'm pretty sure if you never watch paid before, you probably don't know state property. Yeah, but I didn't like state property. And I also didn't like Lockdown. I hate that movie too.
[00:24:28] Speaker B: I don't know what that is. Well, I probably don't watch it because you know how I feel about jail and police. I ain't trying to see or meet them, so it don't even matter to me.
[00:24:36] Speaker A: Okay, so now we go to the trenches.
[00:24:38] Speaker B: Thank you. In the trenches.
[00:24:40] Speaker A: No, no, I don't think I've ever had it.
Taste of it, to be honest.
[00:24:45] Speaker B: Do I think I'm in trenches?
[00:24:47] Speaker A: No.
[00:24:47] Speaker B: Yes, I do. No, I'm just playing.
[00:24:49] Speaker A: I was about to say, girl, what is wrong with you?
[00:24:53] Speaker B: Okay, so we gonna go back and forth and we go both name like some topics and talk about them. As far as trench work, I guess I'll say I'm ready. All right.
Have you ever slept on the mattress on the floor?
[00:25:06] Speaker A: Yeah, by choice. It was not mandatory.
[00:25:08] Speaker B: Well, I ain't gonna lie. I done slept on the. On the mattress on the floor, but not at my own house.
[00:25:13] Speaker A: Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Not at bachelor.
[00:25:16] Speaker B: Yeah, we. And we listen that we don't can judge. Okay.
[00:25:20] Speaker A: Yes.
All right.
Had a cousin basically living in with you. Like a live in cousin?
[00:25:31] Speaker B: No, we ain't never had no.
[00:25:35] Speaker A: Yeah, I did, but it was by choice.
Ain't like she had no way to go or nothing. It was just like being around each other.
Had to share a room.
Yes, me and my sister did share a room, but that was cause I was scared.
[00:25:50] Speaker B: No, I ain't never shared no room with nobody. I mean not besides college, like at home wise. Nah, I ain't never shared no room.
[00:25:56] Speaker A: And no, it wasn't because we was poor.
[00:25:58] Speaker B: Yeah, but I'm not gonna lie though. Like I feel like families that they do have to share a room. I wouldn't necessarily say that. That's trench work though. Like I feel like sometimes you just, you know, sometimes you just don't got the wealthiest side and you know, people got to work for what they want. So.
[00:26:16] Speaker A: Yeah, especially families that have a lot of kids and.
[00:26:19] Speaker B: Exactly. You a single parent too. Let's be for real, economy high. So now I ain't gonna lie now. If you got like eight children in like two rooms or something.
[00:26:29] Speaker A: Okay, that's crazy.
[00:26:30] Speaker B: Word. Yeah.
[00:26:31] Speaker A: Cuz now I'm mad at you forth your best foot.
[00:26:35] Speaker B: You knew better than to even be having all them kids and you ain't had no.
Thank you. Get out of here. No. Sorry.
And that's a no go for me. But we listening and we ain't judging, so I ain't judging either. But I'm just saying, personally, but you
[00:26:50] Speaker A: better not be in that other room still trying to make mo.
[00:26:52] Speaker B: Okay.
Okay.
Use the oven or stove to help heat the house.
[00:27:00] Speaker A: For sure. Because we had a big house, and
[00:27:02] Speaker B: I've done that before, too.
Like. And, you know, sometimes. Sometimes when it first. When it first be getting cold and you be switching back to the heat, like, it kind of takes you.
[00:27:11] Speaker A: Especially when my mama having gas, she had to get gas from, like, the propane. What it called.
[00:27:17] Speaker B: Propane tank.
[00:27:18] Speaker A: Yeah. Propane company or whatever. In the summertime, you think about getting no gas, Right? Yeah. So when it first started out, yeah, we do it, but. Oh, well, I ain't care. The house was big and we had hardwood floors.
[00:27:30] Speaker B: Yeah, y' all definitely was cold in there, so. Hardwood floors, too.
Okay, Kel. Grocery bags inside of another grocery bag.
[00:27:37] Speaker A: Heck, yeah, I still do that. Pick that up for my mom.
[00:27:39] Speaker B: I was about to say that, baby. Or still do that, because I know we still do that.
[00:27:44] Speaker A: But for me, it got to a point. Was it. When it was a excessive amount, I had to throw some of them things in the trash now.
[00:27:50] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:27:50] Speaker A: Just get out of here.
[00:27:52] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:27:54] Speaker A: Had a butter container that absolutely did not have butter in it.
[00:27:58] Speaker B: No, that's nasty. I'm not. No, I'm not doing that.
[00:28:04] Speaker A: You might be there, but you don't know where that food came from. That your grandma cook on Sunday. She might.
[00:28:09] Speaker B: My grandma ain't had no butter container,
[00:28:10] Speaker A: though she might be. Had some.
[00:28:13] Speaker B: She would have put it in, like, a bowl or something like that.
[00:28:15] Speaker A: Like, we never really used my game. My grandma used to. You about to get some butter, you open the container. Probably some frozen pigtails or something in that container.
[00:28:22] Speaker B: Yeah, see? No, that's nasty. Like, you know what else? You know what else I don't like, bro.
[00:28:27] Speaker A: I don't see how that's nasty, though. It's just butter.
[00:28:29] Speaker B: No, it's a no for me. But me personally, I don't like for my food to be in anything that
[00:28:35] Speaker A: it didn't originally come out of. Yeah.
[00:28:37] Speaker B: Unless it's like a bowl or, you know, a plate or something like that. Like, that's like. But even when that.
[00:28:42] Speaker A: Like the stained spaghetti bowl.
[00:28:43] Speaker B: I don't. I was just about to say that I do. Do not hand me no stained spaghetti bowl with no Cereal in it or not.
[00:28:50] Speaker A: Like, once it gets stained by spaghetti, the only thing I need to go back in there is spaghetti and let's throw it away.
[00:28:57] Speaker B: Like, bro, do not hand me no cereal in those things. Spaghetti bowl or no. No.
[00:29:02] Speaker A: One other thing I don't like either is like, you know how people get the pickle jar and use the pickle jar as a cup? I don't like that.
[00:29:08] Speaker B: Yeah, we don't do that. No, you can use that pickle jar. Drink that pickle juice out of them when you got a hangover or something like that. But as far as. No, I'm not. No.
If it ain't no regular cup for me to put on juice in. No, I'm not doing that. I'm sorry.
[00:29:21] Speaker A: Oh, yes, I definitely can relate. Ever had a cookie tin with sewing materials in it and not the cookies.
A cookie tin, you know, like with sewing material container.
[00:29:33] Speaker B: Yeah, the tin cans, the 10 cookies. Yeah.
[00:29:35] Speaker A: And they have the different butter cookies in that blue one.
Yeah. I would be thinking put one in it. So like needle and thread for when you need some. Oh, my God, that is.
[00:29:44] Speaker B: My grandma did that.
Yeah, but we don't really. So that's another thing we don't have these days. People don't really sew these days.
[00:29:53] Speaker A: Anytime something pop bus, I'm getting my grandmother sewed up. Oh, she got an actual sewing container now.
[00:29:59] Speaker B: Well, see, that's. See, that's different then because you know, we ain't really having that. Okay. Somebody's sleeping on the couch. Permanently.
[00:30:06] Speaker A: No.
[00:30:07] Speaker B: Yeah. No.
[00:30:08] Speaker A: For one, you ain't gonna weigh down my mama furniture.
[00:30:10] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:30:11] Speaker A: If you stay there, she ain't even finna let you be having your feet all in the couch and nothing go in your room. You want to lay down.
Okay. Level two. Oh, you know, something.
But you know, seven people in a two bedroom house.
No, no, it was only four of us.
[00:30:32] Speaker B: Yeah. And that's a lot of people. Yeah.
And it was three bedrooms, had one tv. Everybody had to agree on.
[00:30:41] Speaker A: No.
[00:30:42] Speaker B: You know,
[00:30:45] Speaker A: now if we share in a room, you will have.
[00:30:47] Speaker B: Right. That's different TV in it. Right.
[00:30:49] Speaker A: Unless you got. Now I did have my own little personal door TV I love.
[00:30:53] Speaker B: Yeah. But that's different. Like I feel like if you got like a game, like if two boys share a room and they're gamers or something like that. Yeah. Then, you know, they might need their own separate TVs and stuff. But other than that. And let me see, Eating dinners, sitting every. Sitting wherever you could find space.
I only did that at my grandma house when we was kids. And, like, all us used to come over there or something like that. We used to sit on each other
[00:31:20] Speaker A: from, like, a big family, so we never really
[00:31:25] Speaker B: push them things out. So. Yeah, it was me and my other three cousins, so.
[00:31:30] Speaker A: And then you the only girl until Kenya came along.
[00:31:33] Speaker B: Well, Bri. But you know, Bri stay. She stay in Kentucky. Kentucky. So, yeah.
Somebody yelling, don't open that door.
[00:31:42] Speaker A: Because the AC was on my mom and my grandma. You in or out? I was just about to say, you
[00:31:48] Speaker B: better stay your ass in. Out.
[00:31:50] Speaker A: And if you stay out, you not come back in for no water from that speaking.
[00:31:55] Speaker B: No, for real.
[00:31:58] Speaker A: You ever had a family member that can fix anything with duct tape?
[00:32:03] Speaker B: True. Duct tape. Michael. Man can fix anything with his hands if you ask him. Yeah, he gonna figure it out.
Okay.
[00:32:11] Speaker A: I love somebody who can nigga rig some bro.
[00:32:14] Speaker B: My Uncle Main favorite thing. Well, I don't know about now, but his. His thing that he used to like to use on everything was gorilla glue. Him and my grandma, they used to use everything.
[00:32:23] Speaker A: Just all that residue. Yes.
[00:32:26] Speaker B: You know, the glue get hard and had furniture that somebody gave y'. All.
[00:32:34] Speaker A: I've had you had me. But it would be gently used.
[00:32:39] Speaker B: Yeah, right, right, right. Yeah, I. I think I done had some, too, before.
I'm pretty sure. Yeah.
[00:32:46] Speaker A: Level three.
Do you got it? You got it?
[00:32:51] Speaker B: Do you got it?
[00:32:52] Speaker A: Eight out of shoe box car.
I'm sorry. I have never been that deep in the trenches. I see the girl frying some chicken, didn't have the way to put the chicken and put the chicken in the shoe box to drain the grease off. Oh, my God, that's so disgusting.
No, because 9, 10. That was not a brand new pair of shoes that came out that box. Probably done warm and put them in the box, then take them back out when you want.
[00:33:19] Speaker B: I mean, I ain't never did it, but I ain't gonna say I wouldn't do it.
[00:33:26] Speaker A: If it come down to it, then, yeah. You don't feel like going back to the stove? No, I still. I just can't. No, I'm good.
[00:33:37] Speaker B: You ain't gonna taste like carboy. It ain't gonna taste like dirt. Grass. That ain't gonna taste like sne. Somebody spit from the bubblegum or something. It's true.
Slept sideways across the bed so that everybody could fit right.
[00:33:51] Speaker A: You know, we did it. Sleepovers. Yeah.
[00:33:54] Speaker B: But that's not our regular routine sleeping, though.
[00:33:57] Speaker A: But we just so anxious to be with our friends.
[00:34:00] Speaker B: Yeah, of course. Yeah, yeah, for sure.
[00:34:03] Speaker A: Three plus people regularly. Regularly sleeping in one bed.
No.
[00:34:08] Speaker B: No lights got cuddle cut off. And everybody suddenly became candle experts.
[00:34:13] Speaker A: Not unless it was a storm, baby. My mama did not pay by that mortgage in that light bill.
[00:34:18] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:34:18] Speaker A: We would have running water.
[00:34:19] Speaker B: We ain't never really had our lights. Well, not that I know.
[00:34:22] Speaker A: I mean, I know if they got cut off, I was at school. Okay. That different.
[00:34:25] Speaker B: It was back on the third. But I ain't never experienced, you know, no light stain.
[00:34:31] Speaker A: Ever had to wash clothes in the sink or tub.
[00:34:36] Speaker B: I ain't never had to. But if it was like on an occasion, like if I was at my grandma house or something and you know, like we was getting ready to go somewhere and I mess my clothes up or something, she'll wash it out real something. But I ain't never like had to be like, oh, I got to go to the sink and fill this up with water and stuff so I can wash my clothes asap.
[00:34:52] Speaker A: No.
[00:34:53] Speaker B: So, yeah.
[00:34:54] Speaker A: Ever had to make a meal out of whatever was left in the house?
[00:35:01] Speaker B: No.
[00:35:03] Speaker A: No, I.
[00:35:04] Speaker B: No. Yeah. No.
No.
[00:35:07] Speaker A: What about a struggle meal that you still eat to this day?
[00:35:12] Speaker B: I like salmon and rice. I like beanies and weenies.
I like fish and the flatbread, but I've never been a rice and tomatoes fan, so I could bypass the rice and tomatoes, but I would definitely eat that fish with that.
[00:35:26] Speaker A: Flat bread or white bread?
[00:35:29] Speaker B: Either or. I mean, well, if it was gonna be white bread, I'd take hush puppies.
[00:35:33] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:35:33] Speaker B: I don't. I'm not really big on bread.
[00:35:38] Speaker A: Mine would be salmon and rice and what's the other thing do? I hate Benis. Don't ever cook that around me.
[00:35:50] Speaker B: Rice, pork, beans and weenies and sausage.
[00:35:52] Speaker A: Hate it.
[00:35:53] Speaker B: What?
[00:35:53] Speaker A: I don't even like, like, did you
[00:35:56] Speaker B: used to eat Salisbury steak?
[00:35:58] Speaker A: Yes. That's my favorite meal even now. Mashed potatoes with it.
[00:36:02] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:36:03] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:36:05] Speaker B: Salisbury State mashed potatoes and green beans.
[00:36:08] Speaker A: But mom used to do it like family style, like set it up on the table and serve it around the table.
[00:36:13] Speaker B: I know that's right.
[00:36:14] Speaker A: But it was homemade. It wasn't like the pre made patties in there.
[00:36:19] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:36:21] Speaker A: You ever had to use somebody else wi fi?
Nah, I did.
[00:36:26] Speaker B: Well, only if I was at my grandma house because y' all know how old people is. They don't want no wife.
[00:36:30] Speaker A: They only call it wi fi.
[00:36:32] Speaker B: I had to use the wi fee from the neighbors in the back.
And the only reason why I knew it is because I don't used to run Neighborhood. That's it.
Everybody powered into one car, whether there was enough seats or not.
[00:36:46] Speaker A: Yes. Packed like Mexicans.
[00:36:47] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:36:48] Speaker A: No offense, but yeah.
Okay.
[00:36:54] Speaker B: So with all that being said, do you still have your black car and do you think you're from the churches?
[00:37:04] Speaker A: I still got my black car.
I would definitely say I'm in between 6 and 12, so I seen a little something.
[00:37:18] Speaker B: Tell me as far as being in trench, you saw a little something.
[00:37:24] Speaker A: Use you the same.
[00:37:26] Speaker B: My black car, definitely. Yeah, I know. Yeah, I done seen some trench stuff, but I ain't never, you know, I wouldn't say I'm from the trenches, though. I'm deep in it. I can say that because I think I'm very, very far from it.
But as far as the music and the food and the TV shows and stuff like that, I don't really know too. I don't got too much knowledge on that. I ain't even go stor.
[00:37:50] Speaker A: Yeah.
So now we're moving into our last topic.
Keep it or cut it segment.
[00:37:58] Speaker B: Keep it cutting.
Yes.
[00:38:02] Speaker A: Quick fire.
Plastic on your grandma's couch.
[00:38:07] Speaker B: Cut it.
[00:38:07] Speaker A: Cut it.
[00:38:08] Speaker B: I'm not. That's who got my butt sweating, sticking and all that.
[00:38:11] Speaker A: My great grandma was from New York and she just.
She loved it. Like, plastic on all her furniture. She even got this. Had this plastic little Runway rug in it. Yes.
No, I'm sorry.
[00:38:26] Speaker B: That's too much.
[00:38:26] Speaker A: Not finna be coming to your hospital. Like, I'm walking on eggshells.
[00:38:29] Speaker B: Okay. You trying to protect everything.
Like, yo, everybody bringing a plate home from the function.
[00:38:36] Speaker A: Keep it. Because if it good, I'm gonna take some
[00:38:41] Speaker B: kind of in between.
This how I feel.
[00:38:43] Speaker A: Not from every function, though.
[00:38:45] Speaker B: This is how I feel.
I feel like as long as everybody done ate.
[00:38:50] Speaker A: Yeah, cool. That's what you want to take. I'mma definitely.
[00:38:54] Speaker B: If you see that some of the family members ain't here yet or you see that the people that is here ain't ate yet. Why the hell you out there fixing three and four plates?
[00:39:04] Speaker A: No, no. And then the one plate that I need to take home and even go build everything that I ate the first.
[00:39:09] Speaker B: Like, no. Now if you just out here fixing one plate. Okay, cool. But you know, if you trying to take place for you and your family
[00:39:15] Speaker A: at home, you need to wait on that topic.
[00:39:17] Speaker B: You need a way.
[00:39:18] Speaker A: I do not. Like when somebody contributed nothing to the function and they be the one with the most plates.
[00:39:26] Speaker B: That's usually how it goes.
[00:39:27] Speaker A: Like, and they even to take a box of drinks.
[00:39:30] Speaker B: Exactly. They trying to Grab the last can of sodas right there. No, like, who told you that? You was privileged to this.
[00:39:36] Speaker A: They probably said, if I ain't brought nothing, don't you think I might need this stuff?
[00:39:40] Speaker B: Man, you better need your way to that damn stove.
[00:39:43] Speaker A: That was.
[00:39:43] Speaker B: You better do. And that's what I say. Like, that's another thing with black families, too. I feel like black families don't never want to help, but they want to leech so bad. Like, no, we need to all come together and help each other. Like, that's what we here for.
Black community, period. Not even black families, but the black community.
[00:40:03] Speaker A: How do you feel about when kids walk in the room? Do you feel like they should greet everybody? Keep it or cut it? Keep it. Yeah, I definitely.
[00:40:11] Speaker B: I feel like that's a respect thing. When you walk in, you should say, even if you don't acknowledge, like, oh, hey, Bray. Oh, hey, K. You should say, hey, everybody. How are y' all doing? Or, you know, hello, good morning. Like, stuff like that.
[00:40:25] Speaker A: Okay. How do you feel about this?
What happens in this house stays in this house. The saying like that, just that perspective. Do you feel like you should keep it or cut it?
[00:40:37] Speaker B: It depends on the situation.
[00:40:38] Speaker A: I feel like cut it because whatever
[00:40:42] Speaker B: you're doing in your house that you can't take it out of, there should not even be being done in the end, to be honest. But that's.
[00:40:47] Speaker A: And then as far as, like, your mom's business, if it's something that's not
[00:40:53] Speaker B: dangerous, you shouldn't be telling nobody on my business anyway.
[00:40:56] Speaker A: If it's not nothing that put you in danger or are you being harmed,
[00:40:59] Speaker B: then it shouldn't matter about it leaving the house anyway.
[00:41:02] Speaker A: But if it's somebody harm you in that house, you tell it.
[00:41:07] Speaker B: But that brings me back to this video I saw on Tick Tock. I don't know if you've seen it, but Fable had made a video on Tick Tock. She was basically like, the thing that she love about our generation is that, see, the old generations and stuff, they used to hide stuff.
You know, our generation, we bring it to the light.
[00:41:23] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:41:24] Speaker B: Even with adults, like how they used to always say, like, respect your elders and stuff. Like, we respect our elders. We disrespect our elders in a different way because we don't allow people to disrespect us.
[00:41:32] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:41:33] Speaker B: So a lot of. A lot of adults nowadays look at us as if we're disrespectful, but I feel like adults also don't give us the Standard that come with the age either? Like, I'm 23, but you still talking to me like I'm 8. No, no.
Like, no. And so I had liked that video that Fable had made, because I really do feel like our generation really is the one that's bringing the stuff out. Like, everything was so good and tucked up that now that we here bringing it all to the light, we just causing ruckage. Yeah.
[00:42:04] Speaker A: And not only that, a lot of times it be a bunch of. Like, back then, there was a lot of molestation going on.
[00:42:10] Speaker B: Exactly.
[00:42:11] Speaker A: And they just swept it under the rug. You think. You think that's your cousin, but that really your aunt.
[00:42:16] Speaker B: Exactly. That's why I say, like, your uncle.
You got your daddy your uncle too, Tenant.
[00:42:20] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:42:20] Speaker B: Like what?
[00:42:21] Speaker A: That's weird.
[00:42:22] Speaker B: Like, no
[00:42:26] Speaker A: Sunday dinner.
[00:42:28] Speaker B: Keep it.
[00:42:28] Speaker A: Yes, for sure. Keep it. I want to bring it back into my family. Because on Sundays, we do not gather and eat together. Yeah.
[00:42:35] Speaker B: I feel like. Yeah, keep that. For sure. Family reunions.
We need to bring them back. I don't know if y' all have family reunions, but I ain't had one in a long time.
[00:42:44] Speaker A: Last family union my family had, which was on my dad's side, was in over 10 years ago.
[00:42:49] Speaker B: Yeah, that was it.
How you feel about making kids hug their relatives?
Cut it. Yeah.
[00:42:58] Speaker A: My child might not want to hug you. They might feel your vibes, right?
[00:43:01] Speaker B: Yeah. I'm gonna say cut it.
[00:43:03] Speaker A: It might be. Already be feeling people's bad vibes if you.
[00:43:06] Speaker B: And I feel like you're gonna know it. Yeah. I feel like I shouldn't. I shouldn't have my kids obligated to go hug nobody. Then when they grow up, I feel the same thing.
Hug everybody.
[00:43:16] Speaker A: I feel the same way about yes, sir. No, sir.
[00:43:18] Speaker B: Me too. I'm not making my kids say that.
I mean, granted. And that's another thing too. Like, everything just cause I'm saying yes or no. I mean, I'm being disrespectful like you thought. Yes, ma'. Am. No, sir. Like, I understand you older than me and all, but dog. But one thing I can't say about myself, though.
I always start off calling people Mr. And Mrs. I do do that.
But once you do something to rub me the wrong way or something like that.
[00:43:44] Speaker A: You went by your first name.
[00:43:45] Speaker B: Thank you. That's it. No Mr. Or no Ms.
Nothing.
[00:43:49] Speaker A: How about getting dressed up for church?
[00:43:52] Speaker B: Keep it. Keep it.
[00:43:53] Speaker A: Yes. Yeah, I keep it. Easier to go back to the way it used to be.
[00:43:56] Speaker B: Yeah. With the big fluffy dress Yeah, I gotta get me about.
[00:43:59] Speaker A: And dress really soft. The hats. Yes. Hair bowls. Going to the hair salon to get that relaxer.
[00:44:07] Speaker B: What about spades at the gatherings or cars, period?
[00:44:10] Speaker A: Yes, I agree with that.
Take it back to the old days.
[00:44:14] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm gonna say keep it, too. Sitting. Kids sit at a separate table.
[00:44:18] Speaker A: Keep it.
[00:44:20] Speaker B: I'm gonna say keep it too, because
[00:44:23] Speaker A: get bond with your cousins. Talk to them about.
[00:44:27] Speaker B: Right. Yeah.
For the last one, I'm gonna say don't embarrass me in this store like
[00:44:36] Speaker A: my mama tell me. Better yet, stay your ass in the car.
[00:44:41] Speaker B: I'm definitely gonna say keep it, though.
[00:44:43] Speaker A: Cause.
[00:44:43] Speaker B: Yes, keep it. I feel like that's part of the discipline that come with these kids, too. Like a lot of kids these days. I'm not gonna say they don't have
[00:44:49] Speaker A: discipline, but like, their parents think everything is funny. Like, everything.
[00:44:54] Speaker B: They be friends. We already young.
[00:44:56] Speaker A: I'm sorry, but I got real. I got a son. I gotta be firm with him. You're not gonna be like that.
[00:45:01] Speaker B: Okay. And he already active, so.
[00:45:05] Speaker A: Okay, last one.
Keeping the. I mean, cleaning the house on Sunday. I mean, Saturday mornings with the music blast.
[00:45:11] Speaker B: Keep it. Keep it.
[00:45:12] Speaker A: Yes. I just did that.
[00:45:13] Speaker B: Yeah, keep it. I think we should keep it. I feel like that that brings start to your fresh new week. And that's also like family time, too. I feel like if the music blasting and everybody just moving and cleaning and stuff, I feel like, you know, But I feel like that goes to working your work schedule and stuff too, and the stuff you do in your life. Cause I feel like if you gonna be doing something like that, I feel like you need to have that weekend off type joint. You can't just be having, like one Saturday off and having to go to next Saturday. Like, it gotta be some steady something stable. Yeah.
Okay, so for our last segment before we stop, we're gonna go into the bop.
Okay? So before we even give our bop, name one black classic song that you think everybody should know. Like, every black person should know.
I'm gonna have to go.
Oh, what's that song called they be having at the Cookout? They had it on my deal. Go to jail, too. I think I'm gonna know. Medill Family Reunion. Oh, my God.
How it go?
I think it's called Family Reunion, to be honest, if I ain't mistaken.
[00:46:35] Speaker A: And I feel like that's the same song I was talking about.
[00:46:37] Speaker B: I'm about to say.
I definitely think it's called Family Reunion.
Every black person should know that song.
[00:46:43] Speaker A: Mine Would have to be. You.
Got to see tko.
[00:46:52] Speaker B: I don't know.
I don't know that song.
[00:46:56] Speaker A: Let me see.
[00:46:59] Speaker B: Oh, I know this ain't it, bro. What is that song called?
[00:47:09] Speaker A: You right?
[00:47:10] Speaker B: Oh, Family Affair.
Yeah.
[00:47:17] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:47:17] Speaker B: I feel like a lot of black people should know that song for sure.
[00:47:23] Speaker A: Okay. I said my bop of the week. Oh, my bop of the week will be.
Oh, I took it back.
[00:47:42] Speaker B: I don't even know.
[00:47:43] Speaker A: I took it back to Mariah Scientist when she first started popping.
[00:47:47] Speaker B: Spread thin. Yes, yes, she ate.
[00:47:50] Speaker A: You would never go wrong with that.
[00:47:52] Speaker B: I love spread thin.
[00:47:53] Speaker A: Even if you ain't sad, it's still just gonna.
[00:47:55] Speaker B: Do you listen to the regular version or the sped up version?
[00:47:58] Speaker A: Regular.
[00:47:58] Speaker B: I like both of them. I'm not even gonna story my bop of the week. I'm gonna go with K Camp and Jacques. Oh, what is it called?
I think it's called like come Back Home or Come Home or something like that.
[00:48:13] Speaker A: I think I did hear that.
[00:48:14] Speaker B: I love that song. Like when I be doing nails and stuff and I be having the Pandora on, like, for some reason, the Pandora kind of give. Like, I listen to the same station all the time, so it gives like the same vibe kind of. Yeah. So that song always come up on the Pandora. Like, I love that song. I don't know the words yet, but I love it. It's a 10 out of 10. And if you have not listened to it, you need to go listen to it.
[00:48:37] Speaker A: Did you get on the right name?
[00:48:39] Speaker B: Come Back Home? I think it's either Come back home or Come Home. And it's by K Camp and Jacques. So once you type K camp and Jacques and type it in, it's gonna come up and then it's like a Orange is Red is like background kind of like.
[00:48:52] Speaker A: But.
Okay, so after everything you admitted today, is your black car active or revoked?
[00:49:06] Speaker B: It probably suspended till I get my trial back.
[00:49:13] Speaker A: Yeah. You got you on a 30 day suspension.
[00:49:16] Speaker B: Yeah, you got 30 days. To keep myself together, yeah. My joke on suspension for sure. Mine is active, mine is on suspension. But I don't need 30 days. I need like probably about two days.
[00:49:30] Speaker A: You're not gonna be able to watch all them movies and catch up on all them songs in 30 days. I mean, in two days.
[00:49:35] Speaker B: No, for real.
[00:49:36] Speaker A: But we gonna check back in on you in 30 days now.
[00:49:39] Speaker B: It's so much stuff in the black community though, that you have to like. I ain't gonna say have to. It's not much, but it just comes like. And then, you know What? The type of person I am. I don't really be. I don't be with. One day at a time, one step at a time. I ain't even trying to know. So I'll be caring about all that stuff for real, Like.
[00:49:58] Speaker A: Yeah. So now we have a challenge for y'.
[00:50:00] Speaker B: All.
[00:50:02] Speaker A: Comment. The one confession that will get your black carver vote and tell us your Trenches score.
Don't lie, because we will be able to tell.
[00:50:11] Speaker B: I know I will.
[00:50:13] Speaker A: Your scores are 0 to 5.
Your parents just told you. No.
6 to 12. You seem to lose something.
13 to 20. Okay. You certified.

[00:50:39] Speaker A: When you get.

[00:50:45] Speaker A: We'll send you a $25 gift card.
[00:50:47] Speaker B: Yeah. We'll send you.
[00:50:48] Speaker A: If you interact and be honest.
[00:50:50] Speaker B: Right. We'll send you a $25 Visa gift card at that. So you do whatever you want to do with it, but don't go.
Can you take money off gift cards?
[00:50:59] Speaker A: No.
[00:50:59] Speaker B: Good.
[00:51:00] Speaker A: That's why it will be a gift card.
[00:51:01] Speaker B: Good. About to say, don't be trying to go and spend my money on something to keep your ass in them trenches.
[00:51:07] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:51:08] Speaker B: So.
[00:51:09] Speaker A: Well, that's all for you guys. Don't forget to, like, comment, share, and subscribe.
[00:51:16] Speaker B: And with that being said, it's your girl, kb.
[00:51:19] Speaker A: It's your girl, Bracey.
[00:51:21] Speaker B: And we are out.
[00:51:22] Speaker A: Bye.
